Presperterian Religion

Springville Community Presbyterian Church

The Springville Community Presbyterian Church was built in 1892 and is one of the oldest church buildings in the city. The Rev. George Leonard and his wife, Jane, came to Utah in 1876 to build a mission school and organize a new Presbyterian congregation. Services were held in their home until the chapel and the school were complete a few years later. The school was the only school in the Springville/Mapleton area which offered students the opportunity to complete their education through grade 12 until and advent of the public school system.
